Georgia, Golf, Guns... OH MY!

Well, we knew we were in Georgia when all of the water towers were converted to giant peaches. We saw giant peanuts and giant pecans along the roadside as well. The biggest excitement at the campground was watching the squirrels. We ventured into the town of Perry, but found a run down "historic" downtown with shops going out of business and desperate to sell us stuff. We decided the squirrels were better. We left there and found our way to the Grand Lake RV resort in Orange Lake, FL, as you know... where Vincent went out to play a round of golf, and I was his official caddy, witness, photographer and gallery. It was a big job I had to fulfill, but I did it. The interesting part was when we got to the back of the course and heard gun fire, over and over again. About 6-9 shots. We didn't know what anyone could be shooting at... as there was the choice of a farm or a golf course. The chickens on the farm, and the lone golfer on the course (Vince) were both a little nervous! On our second go around, we saw a large group of jennys or poults (about 20) (female or baby wild turkeys) and figured that might be what the shots were all about. Rudy has a new friend here. When he goes outside on his leash there is a mockingbird who has a nest of babies nearby. The mockingbird sees Rudy as a threat. Rudy, is, I'm sorry to say, a little oblivious and too gonzo to know about such things. He's got his own RV for crying out loud. When he gets too hot outside, he asks to go back into the A/C! Anyway... This bird follows us around keeping on the ground with the cat about 3 feet away. The closer we get to the vicinity of the nest, the louder and more cranky the bird gets. Rudy, on the other hand thinks he's got this cool new friend who really likes him and wants to be outside at all available times to hang with the bird. Too funny. Rudy will miss Miss Mockingbird. Lastly, whenever it's a travel day, I sleep on the couch. When I make up the couch... somebody else thinks it's his. See if you can figure out who from the photos.

We're on our way home today. I can't believe our trip is over. It seems like just yesterday we were setting out for adventure and fun. All good things must come to an end. SO... home we go. We still have vacation time, so we're going to take advantage of that time to get ready for the upcoming school year, clean up the house and relax.
