Onward to Maryland...and beyond!

Ok, well, this leg of the trip was, to put it mildly, tough. It was a total of 315 miles, and 6-7 hours of travel.

The cute part was Rudy. (Can you tell Rudy is our beloved kid by now?)Anyway, he decided that if Hippie could ride the dash, not only could he... but this time, he wanted to crawl inside his mini condo there he remained until the traffic became too much to bear. Then he hid under the covers of the bed when the traffic got nasty.

Going through D.C. on 95 was NOT all that fun. The traffic was abhorrent and thick (and at 2:00 in the afternoon for crying out loud!)and if bumper to bumper stand-still wasn't un-fun enough, try a massive thunder and lightening storm complete with treacherous accidents!

The rain followed us up 95 until we reached our destination. We're so grateful the rain held off for a few minutes for us to set up the electricity and water. Then, the storms resumed. That part, not such a problem as we were snuggled in for the night. The disappointment at the camp was the Wi-Fi wasn't working, but the view of the Chesapeake Bay was enough to make up for it. The ducks, birds, and squirrels were more than enough for our boy. Another sleepless night for that kiddo.

We had a great night sleep and lolled about a bit in the morning. I made eggs, sausage and english muffins for breakfast today, and we took our time to get all set for travel. We only had a hundred and some odd miles to travel and it figured in at around 2 hours... OR SO WE THOUGHT... to get to Flanders, NJ. (By the way... Flanders, for all you "Jersey-philes" is halfway along route 80, where it meets up with route 206, just below Netcong. It does exist!) Holy crap! The supposed 2 hour trip took 7 HOURS! New Jersey is the WORST place to drive. Roads are crappy (and we spent $25.00 in TOLLS!! to supposedly pay for their upkeep!) So add to miserable roads, and exorbitant toll prices, getting miserably lost--OVER AND OVER. If we weren't getting confused by the signage, it was the stupid GPS machine leading us astray. Then, the biggest insult, as we were on the right track to our campground Vincent made a joking comment: "What else can go wrong today? I know... the camp is closed!". As we pull along the road we were supposed to be on, we come up to a gate across the road that says: "ROAD CLOSED". HA! So, we turn around, and go the way a passer-by told us to go, and see the park from the road, with NO way to get in! I see the owner waving from the office door...but we had to go up to a mall lot and turn around. As we are sitting and waiting to turn left to go back, she passes us waving in her car. The waves say: "Follow me!". So, we did. After 7 hours, frustration and getting lost we arrive. We were driven to our site and we set up for the night. It was our first time we're able to set up the satellite dish, and don't you know, no matter what we do, it got no signal. I messed around with it and got it to work, but wait until you see the photo of how I had to position it to make it receive signal. Ooh, boy! Tomorrow is another day... and it will feel so much better. It's late and I should get some rest. We miss you all our family and friends. We love you!

The park here has working Wi-Fi and boy is it beautiful! Can't wait to post the pictures for here (but I haven't taken them yet!)
