Hot Springs, Bathing at it's finest....

Tile work at an old bath house that serves now as a museum on the art of bathing.

A fountain that used to pump in hot spring water.

A "cooling room" where you went when your treatment was done to cool off.

The tub where you went to start your bath. In these vast marble tubs, even the very tall can stretch out to be fully submerged in the mineral waters.

This looks like a medieval torture chamber...but really it's something called a "needle shower" where water is sprayed on you from head to toe in fine, needle like streams.

The thing that looks like a toilet on the ground is a sitz bath. The chamber to the right of it is a vapor closet. Both utilize the hot springs to bath you or the steam to make you sweat.

Another Needle Shower.

Rows of vapor closets. You sit inside them with only your head exposed.

This is the beautiful stained glass ceiling that the MEN got in their side of the bath house. The women had very clinical settings. The men were given the opulent side.

This is a statue of De Soto and a Native American woman. The bowl De Soto is holding used to bubble over with water from the springs. It was a fountain. This was below the beautiful stained glass ceiling in the MEN'S bath...

Changing lockers and a sitting area for the men.

Men's massage area

Women's massage area

Hubbard's tub...used for whole body submersion.

Arched stained glass ceilings in the "common area" where both men and women could be together. A shot of the men's side below.
