The Birth Place of Elvis

I was SHOCKED by the size of the house Elvis was born in.  It is made of 2 rooms.  A bedroom/living room and a kitchen.  THAT is IT.  They used an outhouse for the bathroom.  Here is the information on the whole house.... Elvis's father, Vernon and his brother Vester and their father Jessie actually built the house.  Vernon borrowed $180 from his employer to pay for the materials to build it.  Unfortunately, Vernon was also found guilty and admitted to fraud.  He changed a check of his employers that he was cashing into $8 from $3.  He was sentenced to 3 years in prision, spend 18 months there, and couldn't afford to pay back the former employer the $180; so the home was repossessed.  Elvis was born in the front room where the bed is on January 8, 1935.  He was twin to a brother who was still born.  Jessie Garron was burried in Tupelo.  Elvis moved out of this home with his family when he was 1 and a half.  They lived with family members to try and make ends meet.  The family decided to move to Memphis in 1948.  Elvis later bought the house and property in 1957 to donate to the city as a park for children.  The very first church that Elvis attended and sang it is also on this property (moved from it's original location).  Elvis's first guitar was purchased at the Tupelo Hardware Store.
