Alabama's Natural Bridge

There are many so called "natural bridges" all over the United States.  A natural bridge is a landform created by nature that resembles or functions as a bridge over a gap.  This particular bridge is one made of sandstone.  It is the largest one east of the Mississippi River.  It is 148 feet long, 60 feet tall.  It is very visibly carved out by water.  In some of the rock formations there, you can actually see water eddies carved into the rock surfaces.  There is some flowing water and a working artesian well on the property that you can quench your thirst with after you've hiked all over the lovely wooded areas.  This attraction was WELL worth the two dollar and fifty cent price.  It was amazing, awe inspiring and simply gorgeous to look at.  The forces of nature are truly magnificent.  If you find yourself near or in Double Springs Alabama, near the town of Natural Bridge (population forty); treat yourself to one of the neatest natural wonders.

Can you see the eddies in the stone?
